Chelsea has enhanced their attacking capabilities by signing Marc Guiu from Barcelona. The 18-year-old striker has finalized a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, becoming the club's third acquisition of the summer, following centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo and attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman.
Guiu expressed his excitement about joining Chelsea, stating, "I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited. Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League. Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club." He described his strengths as being a goal-scorer while also emphasizing his selfless nature and dedication to his teammates. "I like to give my all for my team-mates. I've always been that way and will continue to be," he added. Guiu also mentioned his commitment to continuous improvement through training and his skills in holding possession and creating space.
During his time at Barcelona, Guiu made seven appearances in various competitions, scoring two goals. He was born in Granollers, Catalonia, on January 4, 2006, and progressed through Barcelona’s La Masia academy, eventually making his first-team debut in October 2023, where he scored the winning goal against Athletic Bilbao. This achievement made him the youngest and fastest player to score on his debut for Barcelona in LaLiga. He also made his UEFA Champions League debut shortly after and scored his first European goal against Royal Antwerp in December.
