AFC Bournemouth made Premier League history with their incredible 3-2 turnaround win at Everton on Saturday. Bournemouth were 2-0 down at Goodison Park with just over three minutes of normal time remaining.
They scored in 87th minute before netting TWICE in stoppage time. It was the latest in a Premier League match a team had been two goals down and gone on to win.
Remarkably, there have been five occasions of a team coming from two goals down to win a match in the competition. But none this late. The previous latest was in January 2013, when Reading beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 having trailed by two in the 82nd minute.

Bournemouth have also joined an exclusive list of clubs who have won a Premier League match they were trailing heading into the 90th minute. This is only the 10th time that has happened in Premier League history, and HALF of them have been in the past two years.

Bournemouth were behind until 91 minutes and 14 seconds, when Lewis Cook made it 2-2. That means Everton 2-3 Bournemouth is NOT the latest turnaround in Premier League history.
Indeed, this only ranks SIXTH in terms of the latest equaliser scored by a team who went on to win a Premier League match. As seen in the table above, the record for the latest turnaround in a Premier League match belongs to Chelsea, who equalised after 99 minutes and 19 seconds of last season's 4-3 win over Manchester United before Cole Palmer scored the winner in the 101st minute.
Bournemouth have history for late drama
Bournemouth are making a name for themselves when it comes to late drama. Indeed, they have now produced sensational turnarounds in three successive seasons. They were 3-0 down at home to Luton Town last season and went on to win 4-3, while in 2022/23 they came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Nottingham Forest. Could Saturday's win at Everton give them the Oracle Most Improbable Comeback award for a third successive season?
