Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has claimed that he is not "Harry Potter" and that it will take time to fix the problems his side are facing. United suffered a heavy defeat at home to Liverpool, making it two losses from their opening three matches.
But Ten Hag is still confident that his side can bounce back from a disappointing start and end another season with silverware, having won a trophy in each of the last two seasons. "It's not like I'm Harry Potter and that is what you have to acknowledge," Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference. "It is the third game of the season. I have had to explain this so many times. We have to build them in the team and it will take time. We will be fine but it is clear we have to improve. At the end of the season I am quite confident we will have a big chance to lift another trophy."
Ten Hag also discussed the positive impact new signing Manuel Ugarte can provide. "If you see Manuel Ugarte, he didn't play so far in the season," Ten Hag added. "Not one match minute and so he needs to build his fitness state and then we have to build them in the team and then I'm sure he will contribute to our level. He will be an important player but that will take a couple of weeks maybe even months and that I think counts for more players for instance Joshua Zirkzee, who made big steps the last three four weeks. I'm very pleased with his performance today."
