FPL experts: When should you use your Wildcard? Source

Experts from The Scout's Fantasy Premier League panel are discussing their plans for using the Wildcard chip, which allows managers to completely change their 15-player squad without incurring penalties. Once the Wildcard is activated, the changes cannot be undone, and managers must finalize their lineups before the next FPL deadline. So far, more than 445,000 managers have utilized their Wildcard, and the experts share their intended timing for this strategy.

Insights from the experts

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily): I am satisfied with most of my current lineup and believe that with one or two adjustments, I can create a competitive squad without needing to use the Wildcard. Ideally, I aim to hold off until at least Gameweek 8, and possibly use the Wildcard around Gameweek 13 if my squad performs well. Verdict: Gameweek 13

Pranil Sheth (@lateriser12): I have players with favorable matchups in Gameweeks 4 and 5. I plan to activate my Wildcard in Gameweek 6 when the fixture landscape changes. By then, we will have a clearer picture of how managers are managing players involved in UEFA competitions. Verdict: Gameweek 6

Utkarsh Dalmia (@ZopharFPL): I intend to use my Wildcard in Gameweek 6 after transferring Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) for Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) prior to Gameweek 4. By timing my Wildcard for Gameweek 6, I can bring in players from Arsenal, Brentford, and Manchester City who are set for a favorable schedule while moving on from my Fulham, Palace, Liverpool, and Newcastle players. Verdict: Gameweek 6

Holly Shand (@HollyShand): I am considering a Wildcard in Gameweek 6. I have two free transfers available to acquire Liverpool, Man City, and Brentford players in anticipation of their favorable matchups. I will also focus on the fixture changes for Arsenal and Brentford when using my Wildcard. Verdict: Gameweek 6

Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice): Currently, I am planning to take another hit before Gameweek 4 and postpone my Wildcard, aiming to use it around Gameweek 6 when teams like Arsenal and Brentford have an excellent run of fixtures. Verdict: Gameweek 6

Pras (@Pras_FPL): I will activate my Wildcard in Gameweek 6. As it stands, I do not have any Arsenal players, and in Gameweeks 6 and 7, they will play against Leicester City and Southampton at home. Additionally, Manchester City has a strong schedule starting in Gameweek 7, so building a solid team with five or six players from City and Arsenal seems like a sound strategy. Verdict: Gameweek 6
